The Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Education and Learning Assessment Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for all activities in support of student member and graduate member applications, assessments of underpinning knowledge and understanding for registration and advising on and influencing current and future qualifications provision for registration.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Accreditation:

  • Approve and accredit civil engineering programmes via the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) and potentially directly via ICE.
  • Recognise third-party accreditation schemes.

Applications and Assessments:

  • Manage individual cases for candidates with non-recognised qualifications.
  • Oversee student and graduate member applications, along with associated academic base assessments.
  • Manage experience-based assessments and academic base checks.
  • Provide expert advice on academic qualifications for Engineering Council registration.

Expertise and Influence:

  • Maintain relationships with relevant qualification bodies.
  • Represent ICE on relevant committees and working groups.

People Management:

  • Recruit, train, manage staff and volunteers within the Education and Learning Assessment team.
  • Ensure performance reviews are carried out in line with ICE policy.

Financial Management:

  • Set and manage the departmental budget.
  • Prepare business cases for new assessments and procedures.

 

What we are looking for

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of HE, FE, educational development and assessment practices in engineering or construction.
  • Experience of quality systems, academic quality assurance and business management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • The ability to work independently, manage a team and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Experience working with committees and geographically dispersed teams (a plus).
