It also serves as the headquarters of the Institution of Civil Engineers — a globally respected body dedicated to promoting innovation, knowledge exchange, and excellence in civil engineering.

The Role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will ensure that all food is produced to the highest standards, accurately, in budget and in accordance with the law.  You will assist in the effective management of the kitchen team so that One Great George remains the preferred choice meetings and events venue in Westminster and the ICE continues towards its goal of fostering and promoting the art and science of Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Managers with customer requirements as necessary
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers as delegated by the Executive Chef.
  • To react to customer comments to improve the level of service.            
  • To achieve a minimum score of 80% in a food safety audit.
  • Create menus as required by the company in the agreed time frames.
  • Adhere to all company health and hygiene policies to ensure that due diligence is maintained.
  • Attend all meetings and training session as required by the company to improve communications and knowledge.
  • Train all staff in food, food safety and cooking skills to increase knowledge base and staff flexibility.
  • Effective resource management to meet the needs of the business.
  • Maintain and follow the allergen information matrix for all food outlets and constantly review to maintain accuracy.  Communicate this information and how to use it with all relevant staff at OGGS.
  • Any other reasonable tasks as required

About You:

  • Significant experience in a kitchen environment is essential.
  • Experience in banqueting.
  • Restaurant experience
  • Experience in a 4/5* environment is desirable.
  • Excellent team worker and clear communicator
  • Exceptional food knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Resilience in pressured situations
  • Good flexibility
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Accredited intermediate and advanced food hygiene certification.
  • Any other relevant qualifications.
